How I Use It
I use Brain Pop Jr. movies to help add to a lesson or summarize the main concepts. I have especially used this in connection to special events and holidays such as Johnny Appleseed's birthday, Columbus Day and even our latest lunar eclipse. The movies take a real event or concept and breaks it down into a way where students get a lot of information but with simplified steps and vocabulary or a better approach then I can explain. I really like using it because sometimes it helps visual learners or even low learners see it and then hear it explained. Together with direction instruction, activities and other forms of a lesson, the movies help to build knowledge.
I really enjoy seeing students fit all the pieces in a lesson. I use it on the smart board and elmo to allow all students to view and watch the movies. When I do use it I have to increase the zoom feature because the videos play in a small box and I have not seen how to enlarge the videos to a whole screen view. However, it just takes a moment to zoom it in to 200% and the video plays great for all my students to watch.
I have never used it individually with students but my son does use this at home for games and individual learning entertainment.
