How I Use It
I use Animoto in a variety of ways. I use it as a project based learning tool, in which students are given an essential question, research the topic and create a video clip to convey their findings to peers. I have used it as an authentic assessment tool for students to create PSAs on topics such as digital citizenship and financial education to demonstrate their knowledge through teaching others. When students are learning about marketing it serves as a simulation for students to market their product/business. I teach business and finance and non-core classes are always looking for ways to support the core courses. I find Animoto supports ELA as students receive hands-on experience in using imagery as a means of communication.
I teach financial education, business management and technology, and digital citizenship. I use Animoto in all of my courses. It is easy to use and allows students to create great video clips. Animoto is a fabulous teaching tools that engages all students of a variety of ages. The only drawback is the free version can be limiting for larger projects.
