How I Use It
I use this website when I introduce a letter. If you click on Basics at the bottom corner, it will give you a block for each letter. If you click on the block for the letter you want, you get a whole lesson to go with the letter. I put this on my Smart Board. I pull up the letter we are working on and I go through the lesson. It begins by telling the students the letter and gives pictures that begin with the letter. Then their are chants that go with each letter. They use a similar tune for each letter which makes it much easier for the students to follow along with the song itself. It also gives you a digital book for each letter. This is great. Each time it turns the page, it tells you the letter sound as well as the picture that begins with the letter we are learning. We then go to trace. I pull each student up and allow them to practice writing the letter on the board. Of course this is their favorite part. This also gives them a chance to practice the letter. They also have several games that students can do individually. This website would be great for computer stations. I also used the farm section when we did farm animals. I loved that they had a lesson that went with our unit. The kids also enjoyed it.
My Take
I really like that this website is free for classroom teachers. You can also sign up every student in your classroom. This is a great resource. My students love the website and get excited when they hear the beginning jingle. I feel that it really hooks my students on the lesson, and gives them a fun introduction. I use this website with every letter.
