Handling the Holiday Device: Tips and Best Practices

Thursday, January 17, 2019 - 1:00-2:00 pm PST

It’s a safe bet that your students got devices as gifts for the holidays. An even safer bet? They’ll run into some challenges as they try to use those devices safely, wisely, and in balance with the rest of their lives. Of course, new devices can make great gifts, and they promise hours of entertainment, opportunities for creativity, and engaging resources for learning. But how do we help them avoid common pitfalls, find the best content, become creators as well as consumers, and use their devices to enhance their worlds—instead of their devices becoming their worlds?

In this edWebinar, join Christine Elgersma, Senior Editor of Parent Education at Common Sense Media, to learn best practices and messaging to give to both students and parents to help them navigate using that new holiday device. This session is geared toward K–12 teachers in all subject areas. There will be time to get your questions answered at the end of Christine’s presentation.
