About Me

Dr. V. Lassiter is known for his dynamic teaching style, which includes dance, music, movement, art, discussions, and lots of technology. His energetic demeanor and fast paced, bubbly outlook on life earned him the nickname “Super V” and “the energizer bunny of technology.”

He is a product of the Edenton-Chowan Schools, having graduated with honors in 2002 from John A. Holmes High School. As a North Carolina Teaching Fellow he attended North Carolina State University where he graduated magna cum laude in 2006 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business and Marketing Education. He returned home after graduating where he has been employed for the past nine years – five years as a business information technology and marketing teacher and four years as the district instructional technologist. While working full-time as a teacher he earned a Master’s of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from North Carolina State University in 2008 and was awarded his Ph.D. in Education, Occupational and Technical Studies with a concentration in Career and Technical Education, from Old Dominion University in 2012.

Dr. Lassiter is no stranger to hard work. His motto is, “Live life on purpose, in purpose, and with purpose.” He believes that everyone has a talent and can contribute – in his or her individual way – to improving his or her surroundings, and this is accomplished through “purpose.” Vann is a member of twelve professional organizations and/or honor societies, is active in his church, and co-founder of the Willie A. Satterfield Memorial Scholarship. He has earned several awards, grants and recognitions including obtaining Google Apps for Education Certified Trainer Certification, 2013 North Carolina Technology in Education Society (NCTIES) Outstanding Leader of the Year, and 2011 AT&T Northeast North Carolina Regional (Region 1) Teacher of the Year. During his spare time, Vann loves traveling, speaking Spanish, and enjoying fine cuisine. He is known throughout eastern North Carolina as a motivational speaker, presenter, and author of the children’s book “Victor Goes to Sixth Grade: The Impact of a Teacher.”
