Teaching is an adventure. Every day is an opportunity to learn and grow. I love change and change what I am doing often. I have taught for 26+ years and have taught all grades K-8. This is my second year that I am at the middle school. I am happy to say that I really enjoy middle school students. They are wonderful. The year prior I was with second grade students and I am looking forward to seeing them when they get to the middle school in a couple of years.
I teach earth and life science to 6th and 7th grade students. I have always loved to play with technology and try to use it effectively in my classroom. My lesson plans are on Google sites so that I can easily display the day’s plan to students as they walk into the room. Internet links are right on the page, easily accessible. I am always looking for better ways for students to integrate technology into their learning as a tool to help and enhance, not as a way to replace something that was working before.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from U.C. Davis, my teaching credential from C.S.U. Sacramento and a Master of Arts in Education with a focus in language, literature and culture from U.C. Davis. I have been a teacher consultant with the Area III writing project since 1991.
I don’t like to express my opinions in writing in a public forum like this but have agreed to because I feel the mission of the site is important. Parents and teachers need to be able to find useful sites without hours and hours of searching and trial and error. I hope to find resources that are useful to me as well.
