Teacher Librarian, Calistoga Joint Unified School District, K-12 Calistoga, CA.
My journey as an educator began in 1977 as an elementary teacher in Missouri. When technology made its way into the classroom in the late '80's I started taking technology classes and eventually became a technology leader in my school. As strong advocate for technology in education and digital media, my interest and passion for kids and computers landed me in the world of the school library in the mid nineties. When Web 2.0 hit the library world around 2003 or 2004 I transitioned my role as librarian, keeper of the books to digital literacy coach and mentor. Having lived in Missouri, Colorado, and now California I have the advantage of seeing different perspectives on educational technology. Relocating in different states has given me the privilege to meet excellent educators, colleagues, and mentors throughout from a wide variety of philosophies, but one thing is certain: Educators want what's best for kids. I am excited to be a part of the Graphite professional community.
