About Me

I am the middle child of five and I loved growing up in a big home. My father is from Harmony Hall, Trinidad and my mother was born and raised in Miami, Florida. My father came to America when he was nine to gain a better life and education. My parents thought that I was going to be a boy when I was born but my family was blessed with a baby girl. Because they were expecting a boy my middle name is my father’s middle name and making me a dad’s girl! This made me want to be just like my daddy. He loved reading, music, his children, and learning. Twenty-three years later and I like reading anything, listening to music, dancing, going to school, writing poems and children's stories, working with children, and most importantly being a full time big sister, until I become a full time mother. My love for children runs so deep that I am currently opening my own family child care home, Jitta Bug Learning Center. I love the rush of teaching and the challenges that comes with it. I never give up and I try to strive to be the best educator I can be. I have dedicated almost all of my free time including weekends for the past five years to attending trainings, workshops, and seminars that will help me become a better teacher and network with others in the field of education to help me. I am proud of my trainings and knowledge and try to pass it to others that are open to the knowledge.

I choose a career in education in the year of 2000 because my parents conceived my little sister, Alicia Jitta, and I felt an obligation as a big sister to be there for her. I wanted to be her role model and make sure she was learning everything she could. My educational career started at the age of 10 and it is still in full blossom! Education was the most sound road for me because I love teaching, exploring, and discovering and therefore I dedicated myself to the education of children and their families and pressured a career in teaching. I have a high quality love for education and I believe that a real teacher is first a student. As a student I enjoyed reading and being assigned projects and I excelled at school. I enjoyed more helping other students that did not understand or needed a little help. I love learning and I love passing on my knowledge to young children to help better the future generations. I started off tutoring children the same age as me and younger, babysitting, and volunteering in different schools and summer programs. I have worked as a teacher and director in the early childhood setting as well as performed internship at Henry E.S. Reeves Elementary, Charles R. Drew Elementary and Middle, Westview Middle, Brownsville Middle, and Miami Lakes Educational Center. I am very skillful with using arts and crafts to teach and using technology effectively in the classroom. I recently earned my certification as a Common Sense Educator Digital Citizenship Certified. I like to make teacher-made materials more than buying materials from the store because I have learned that it has a more positive effect on the students I teach. I can make almost anything out of construction paper, paint, pencils, scissors and a ruler. Saving myself and school money and resources!
