I was a special education aid for 10 years. I went back to school and received my masters in education from St. Bonaventure University in 2001. I have been teaching at Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy in Melbourne, FL, since 2000.
Two years ago I discovered 3DGameLab through an edWeb webinar and it completely changed my ideas about teaching. I enrolled in their teacher camp and learned how to incorporate game playing into my classes. My students now complete quests, earn XP, badges, and rank up until they reach the master student level.
Some of the technology I have used in my class this year includes the following:
3DGameLab - wonderful product - well worth the money, time and effort.
TED.ed. lessons - this is an incredible website and I encourage every teacher out there to check it out.
WeVideo - there is a bit of a learning curve here
Thinglink - very user friendly
Timetoast - very easy
Movenote - linked to google drive and email
Blendspace - user friendly
Socrative - my students love the space race feature
Camstasia - tech heavy and not cheap but allows me to produce my lectures in a video format
Commonsense Media Digital Bytes - a great new addition to the digital citizenship lessons
