Bio
I am co-founder and Chief Learning Scientist at Kidaptive, which creates learning and assessment experiences for kids built on a comprehensive early-learning curriculum and assessment framework. I am also a board member at Connect Community Charter School (connectrwc.org) and a father of two young boys.
I spent eleven years at Stanford studying cognitive science, game-based learning, and next-generation assessment while earning a bachelor’s degree in Symbolic Systems, a master’s degree in Philosophy, a master’s degree in Statistics, and a Ph.D. in Learning Sciences and Technology Design. And I love playing games: physical games like rugby, card games like Scalawag! (http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/140600/scalawag), tabletop role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons (http://dnd.wizards.com/), and video games like Skyrim (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Elder_Scrolls_V:_Skyrim).
