My name is Amanda Hovious. I am a librarian with experience in both academic and public libraries. I earned my MLIS from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. Currently, I am at the very end of completing my master's degree in Instructional Design and Technology (about halfway through the thesis) from the University of North Dakota.
The IDT degree has given me a new perspective on librarianship. I am a strong advocate for bringing instructional design and technology into the library field as an avenue for new librarianship, or blended librarianship.
I have a personal research interest in game-based learning and transmedia storytelling, both of which are great digital learning tools for developing the multi-literacies. Related to that, I recently became involved with the Inanimate Alice team, a wonderful transmedia storytelling project.
