Bio
I was born and raised in Fresno, California. I attended Sunnyside High School and graduated in 2002 where I was a part of the first graduating class in the school's history. After high school I attended Fresno City College where I played baseball and was part of a team that made back to back state final four appearances. I was then recruited to play at Sonoma State University where I studied and received my B.A. in English Literature. I consider these years my foundation. Without the English Department I would not be the thinker, reader, writer I am today.
After a stint in law school, I decided to try and marry the two things that I enjoyed studying: literature and baseball. I hurried and applied to Fresno Pacific University. It was here that I received the push and growth I needed to thrive as a teacher and educator.
I participated in the San Joaquin Valley Writing Project in the summer of 2013 and it became the network needed to inspire new and greater practices. It has also provided another network in collaboration and opened doors with the opportunity to learn at a week long session with primary sources at the Library of Congress this past summer.
I have been teaching English at the 10th grade level at Sanger High School for the past 5 years loving ever bit. It is my challenge and goal to provide the best opportunity for my students to grow, develop, and become comfortable in the fast pace environment we call "world" and be ready for it when it appears.
