Questions:
Question:
How long does the tutorial take?
Answer:

Each grade-level tutorial takes approximately one hour to complete. This is just an estimate, as you may choose to take more time to explore some topics.

Question:
What does the tutorial cover?
Answer:

The tutorial provides an introduction to digital citizenship and Common Sense Education’s Digital Citizenship Curriculum, including: K-12 Digital Citizenship Curriculum lessons (available on iBooks, Nearpod, and as downloadable PDFs), student interactives (Digital Passport, Digital Compass, and Digital Bytes), the Connecting Families program, and the Common Sense Recognition Program. You will explore issues facing your students, sample lesson activities, and see examples of digital citizenship in action.

Question:
What’s the best way to view the tutorial?
Answer:

Though the tutorial can be viewed on a mobile device, for optimal viewing, we recommend using a laptop or large-screen tablet. Also, you can enlarge each segment by expanding on the upper right, then tap escape (esc) to get back to the tutorial page.

Question:
How do I access the certificate of completion?
Answer:

At the end of the tutorial, you’ll take a brief survey. At the end of the survey, you’ll be directed to a link to the certificate. In order to access the certificate, you will need to be logged in as an educator on our site. Registration is free.

Question:
Why am I getting a message to enter my name in the slides?
Answer:

We use Nearpod as a multimedia platform for this tutorial. If you reach the end of a set of slides, you will see this message. You can either: 1) Refresh the page if you would like to start at the beginning of that segment again. Or, 2) If you click “Tap to Start Over” you will see an image saying “Welcome to this Session” and it will prompt you to sign your name.Enter your first name or initials, click “Send” and the slides will start again. Your name is not collected or stored anywhere, it just triggers the Nearpod slides to start again.

Question:
How do you use the personally identifiable information I share?
Answer:

Upon request, we provide schools and districts with a list of the names of the educators in their school or district who have completed the tutorial. We do not share survey feedback or results with schools and districts. For more information, see our privacy policy. Please contact [email protected] for more information.
