Great Program for use at home, but frustrating for some
Community Review for XtraMath
My Take
I was really happy with the ease of set up. Once students start to use this program at home, the teacher can get weekly reports on progress. Students who pass a level will earn a certificate. The certificate is sent to the teacher so that they can print and present this to the student. I would print it out on fancy paper and the students were very pleased to receive it. It also encouraged others to work harder and more frequently at home. Teachers can also make adjustments to individualize the program for each child and their needs. This site gave students a different approach to learning their math facts.
How I Use It
This site was introduced as another way that my students could practice their math facts. Because it covers addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, I was individualize the program's level for each child. Students who had difficulty with the timed aspect of the program were quickly frustrated. Some parents assisted their child by typing the answer as the child would say it aloud. This would help those students who had difficulty finding the correct numbers on the keyboard.
