Cheap, easy way to have access to Microsoft Office capabilities, but lacking in cloud storage choices
WPS Office provides an easy way to use an iPad to edit and create documents that normally would be done with Microsoft Office. It has strong tools for the creation and editing of documents, however it is lacking in providing implementation for students who have Office 365/OneDrive accounts created on the business side. A user can link Dropbox, Google Drive, and any number of online, cloud storage services, but the lack of One Drive for Business (which is provided in enterprise Office 365 setups) makes this a no go for my students (who have accounts in Office 365 provided by our state Department of Education). Overall, it is a nice alternative to Microsoft's own apps, but without support for One Drive for Business from and Office 365 setup, it would be just as easy to download and use the Microsoft apps in the classroom.
How I Use It
Students were able to quickly, and easily, create and edit documents, spreadsheets, and presentations using WPS Office. They could create items with most of the same functionality as Microsoft Office, and save their files directly to a number of different cloud storage services. The ability to edit and create on the iPad allowed them a bit more flexibility that having them tied to a specific computer and allowed them to move around while they were conducting their research and have open discussion on items with other members of their class.
