My Take
If 6 years olds are able to utilize the WeMAP successfully - the possibilities for older children are endless.
How I Use It
I have used the WeMAP app extensively with my Summer Academy "at risk" first graders as well as my current first graders. The challenge was guiding the children to connect with one another. This app allows the children to learn skills beyond just the application of knowledge. My students learn the mechanics of working cooperatively in small groups, how to be a leader, how to problem solve and how to share learning.

Fantastic Collaborative Mapping Tool
WeMap is an excellent student tool. My students prefer it compared to Popplet because they can collaborate. Since more than 1 person can add to the map at a time everyone is busy rather than waiting for their turn. This also saves class time, which I appreciate. It would be helpful if WeMap allowed users to draw in the nodes and add photos, both of which are features of Popplet.

An excellent, easy-to-use app for students to organize information together.
I like WeMap because it is collaborative. I use it mostly in small groups, and each student in the group has access to the map via his/her own device. Because they are all working on the same document, they also have to talk to one another about how they want to organize the information. I also like it because it is open-ended. Students can decide how to organize information in a way that makes the most sense to them at one time. I, as a teacher, have access to their work by joining their session, and I can make sure they are on the right track.
