My Take

Overall this is a highly engaging product that the majority of kids LOVED to do. In fact, on one occasion, I even got a voicemail from a parent who wanted to thank me for offering Timez Attack. She said that it was the only thing that ever worked for her daughter to learn her multiplication math facts. If you can afford it, and if the kids are provided time and opportunity to do it, it works.

How I Use It

I am writing from the perspective of someone who has setup classes in TimezAttack and introduced it to classes in a computer lab setting. Because I had to setup so many classes, I went the route of exporting basic student data from our student management system (PowerSchool), and then uploading them to Big Brainz. If you have many classes to upload, this can be quite time consuming. However, Big Brainz customer service is REALLY helpful and will do the upload for you if you send them the files. There is a free version and a paid version of Timez Attack. For several years in a row, we were able to afford the paid version. But because of a significant price increase this year, we did not renew our subscription. A lot of our students still ask about it and are disappointed that we don't have it. I never took the time to setup the free version this year. Last year Big Brainz released their primary version based on addition and subtraction. The 1st and 2nd grade students loved this, too. For students in 1st-5th who did Timez Attack (both multiplication and addition/subtraction), I saw a significant increase in speed and accuracy of math facts.
