Teachers can use the benchmark assessments to find students' reading levels at the beginning of the school year and then assess student progress throughout the year, paperlessly. They can share reports with interventionists, other teachers, and parents. The feedback report is presented with positive words so that teachers can share it with students right after they finish, and students will benefit from hearing the recording of themselves reading the passage, too, so teachers can build some student reflection into the assessment process, having them listen to their recording and reflect on ways they can improve.

Read With Me Fluency is an all-in-one paperless system for Lexile-level reading fluency and comprehension assessments and records. Teachers can work in offline mode, with data saved on the device, or online, with data saved in the cloud. There's no way to sync the data between the two, so teachers will want to be consistent. Online mode can be accessed from within the app (with a Wi-Fi connection) or from a computer. Students can read from the offline mode in the app, from a paper print-out, or from a computer screen. As students read the passage, students are recorded (video or audio) while teachers mark miscues, choosing from a gastrophonic or semantic error, a skipped word, a self-corrected word, a word requiring teacher assistance, or other. The timer counts down a minute and notifies the teacher when to have the student stop and mark the last word, or teachers can use the stop-watch mode to time the reading. Teachers see immediate results, showing the correct words read, errors, correct words per minute, accuracy, and Lexile level. They'll see a benchmark report for the grade level, noting if the passage was frustration level, independent level, or instructional level. Students or teachers can then listen to or view the recording of the student reading. Teachers can email reports from the online account but not from the offline account. The app charts student progress, and teachers can view an assessment history or results. Teachers can create multiple classes of multiple students and archive past classes. Several reading passages are included for each grade level and for a range of Lexile levels, and teachers can add their own passages, too.
Without a doubt, Read With Me Fluency will make running reading records much more pleasant for teachers and students. The options for working with two iPads, a computer and an iPad, an iPad and a printed page, and so on make this so versatile it can fit almost any classroom. Teachers don't have to shuffle through stacks of passages to find the right one for each student, and the whole process of finding an appropriate passage for each student can be discreet.
A few updates would make it even better: Being able to log in on the device or online to access all student data would make it easier for teachers to switch between working online and offline. (The FAQ page says this is in the works, but the last update was in February 2014.) The option to correct any mismarks (to correct teacher marking errors) after students have finished testing would be nice, as well as a way to find the Lexile score for passages teachers add themselves.

Very usable and I initially loved the app for its ability to allow me to add my own passages, quick fluency data results, and usability. But it's not properly maintained and I can't upgrade my account or add any new passages. Very disappointing!
It's great for all the reasons mentioned above but needs updating desperately. There is nothing else I have found quite like it but I am essentially frozen out of it since I cannot upgrade my account to add new passages. Numerous emails to help line have gone unanswered.
