My Take

This program is a great interactive application that meets the needs of media production for several levels of students as well as adults as well. The application is intuitive, and allows for the embedding of video and audio and has resources to support up to 25 different languages which supports teachers that are teaching very diverse classrooms. It is disappointing that the application is not free, but with all of the special features in the application, charging is understandable. The application can be difficult to share within and collaborate with, and collaborators both need to purchase the application which can be cost prohibitive in a classroom setting.

How I Use It

This application can be used in a myriad of different ways in the classroom. Think about how it could engage students in the content being delivered in the classroom, or how it can have them answer a key essential question. Some ideas about how this content has been used in the classroom setting include: 1) Use primary sources to make a book to tell the sequence of historical events in an area/location. 2) Create a "raft" of a historical person
3) Collect primary sources in a book to answer a particular essential question
Write your own science textbook in a different language for your students 4) Have students use Pictello to explain content in a different languages so that ELL students can access classroom materials in their own language 5) Consider how teachers can use this software to reflect on classroom practice or set goals for learning/growth in their professional practice and then share it with other teachers or administrators.
