My Take

Overall: I enjoy using this tool with my students. I like that I can assign lessons to students and track their learning. I can also individualize instruction based on the needs of my students. Not only can I use this tool for whole-group instruction, I can also use it for remediation and enrichment. It gives students an opportunity to review concepts that they don't quite understand and need more instruction. My students that have grasped concepts and want to move on and take their learning to the next level also have that option.

Improvements: I would like to see more quiz questions in each lesson.

Critique: Some of the Common Core objectives do not have lessons that have been developed yet. I'm eager to know when lessons will be available for all objectives. I also experience videos that do not play on the laptops we use at school. It can be frustrating when your plans fail due to a video that will not play.

How I Use It

I use this tool when I am teaching whole group instruction. I like that I can download the slides and teach. This gives me the opportunity to supplement the slides with other resources that I have found. When I first started using this tool, I would provide the students with the Notes template so they would have a framework for note-taking. I have also used this tool for students to work on individually. I have assigned playlists for an entire class period. I have also assigned playlists at the request of students or when I feel they need assistance with various concepts. Students in my class receive playlists for homework as well. As my district moves to 1:1 and I transition to a flipped classroom, I look forward to using this more with my students.
