My Take
Khan Academy Kids provides a free immersive app for ages 2 - 6 to learn essential foundational skills! It includes a correlation with Common Core State Standards and content consisting of math, ELA, executive function, SEL and creative expression! Designed for home and family use, it could be well served in the classroom! It has the versatility of offering a "guided path", the "library" , including exploration and creativity or a combination of the two!
It has a bountiful supply of activities in both areas! The format includes four levels of difficulty and teacher feedback includes notifications of "mastery", "in progress" and "developing" of concepts check marks! The support of Khan Academy Kids, [email protected] was quite helpful!
How I Use It
1) I could engage the students in one of the content areas, depending on their progress of the concept, with the use of their ipads, 2) Allow the
students to learn a song that teaches an understanding of a certain concept, 3) Allow the students to explore the library individually, with books,
videos , drawing and a host of other activities!
