My Take

This website helped me in one of my favorite lessons. I learned about this in a graduate-level course, and at that time there weren't too many "pins". The website has had a lot of growth, but I think this will be an incredibly powerful tool as more and more begin to use it.

This lesson really opened students eyes to see that we have a lot in common, but yet are very diverse at the same time.

How I Use It

I always have the students research their family history and create a family tree and give a small presentation, but HistoryPin took things to another level. Each student found a picture or two that best represented who they are, pinned it, and wrote a little bit about it. We made a map of all of our pins. My school isn't very diverse, but it was amazing to see the amount of "pins" spread all over the world. Such a powerful lesson.
