My Take

Google sites offer a wide variety of uses in the classroom. Teachers can use a Google site to create a classroom website for posting homework and other information. The site can be set to private or left open to all visitors. Older students can also use Google Sites to create their own websites individually or as a group. No knowledge of HTML coding is necessary to create a site which allows individuals without knowledge of coding to construct an eye appealing website. It is also fairly easy to embed photos, videos and other content.

However, Google sites could be made to serve teachers and students better by allowing teachers to create a password for logging into the site WITHOUT the visitor having to have a Google account. As children under 13 are not allowed to have a Google account (as per Google terms of service), this would allow a teacher of any grade to have a password protected class website.

How I Use It

I use Google sites to maintain my class website where I post homework, assignments, resources, links and other information. I also use Google sites with my juniors and seniors to create their own digital college portfolios.
