My Take

Overall, I find FooPlot to be simple but extremely easy to use. In addition to the website, there is a Chrome extension. FooPlot is available in several languages including English, Spanish, Dutch, and more. All graphs made on FooPlot are public domain, meaning they can be used in online exercises, worksheets, lesson plans, etc.

Some great features of FooPlot include: customizing colors of individual graphs and graph elements, changing the grid spacing depending on the function, pan/zoom features for different viewing perspectives, and the ability to download or share graphs.

There is a large advertisement at the top of the screen, which may distract younger or less discerning students. FooPlot is also limited to basic functions (trig, hyperbolic, miscellaneous), but I think it would be extremely useful for math teachers in middle school and up.

How I Use It

FooPlot is a free online graphing tool that is easy to use. Teachers can use FooPlot to demonstrate basic functions during introduction to concepts. Students can use FooPlot to visualize functions while completing homework assignments or as additional practice of certain concepts.

Easy to use tool for creating function graphs to use on worksheets, lessons or presentations.

Overall, FooPlot is a free and simple resource that would enable one to create good quality, copyright free graphics to embed in worksheets, lessons or websites. For use in a class activities, I would likely turn to other utilities that offer more functionality and real time interaction for students.

This is a great way for students to explore functions and experiment with function transformations.

This teaching tool is great to introduce function topics. I like that, for this purpose, it is easier to use than a handheld graphic calculator. It is not a great tool for analyzing functions. I would like for multiple functions displayed to show up in different colors. It is much easier to direct a class when you can use words like the blue one or the red one, rather than x^2 or x^3.
