Safe social networking keeps students "in-the-know" and allows them access to the classroom beyond the four walls!
Community Review for Edmodo
My Take
My only question is: Why don't more teachers use this? It has changed the way my students can access classroom information as well as other students. It is also a mobile app, so students can reply through mobile technology as well. Students know to look here for information they need. My only wish is for parents to have the same sort of access as students. Currently, they have a very limited view.
How I Use It
This is my new all-in-one stop shop. My students and I use it daily. Edmodo looks like Facebook, and I use it to post reminders, assignments, links to documents, etc. It also has a calendar where I can post homework due and classwork. Students can post and ask questions just like in Facebook. My favorite feature is the use of "Small Groups." In each class, students are grouped into small group discussion boards where they post replies to prompts in an initial post. They also respond to two other students. It's my sneaky way of getting an essay a week in to practice writing. Furthermore, apps such as Curriculet, Actively Learn, and No Red Ink can be pushed to students and can be used free of charge.
