My Take

Book Creator has been in my app toolbox for many years now. I go back to it because it is easy for me to teach kids and kids love using it. This is my litmus yes for finding apps for my classroom. Time is always an issue in my class and I don't have time to waste teaching an app that isn't intuitive to my students. Another reason I really like Book Creator is because it is easy to find ways to utilize it in my instruction across multiple disciplines. One thing I hope that the Book Creator team adds in the future is the ability to have a classroom account where students can continue working on a book regardless of the device they are one. As it stands now, students can only house work on the device they began the work on. This update is long past due. Otherwise, Book Creator is a great app and you won't regret using it in your classroom.

How I Use It

I currently teach Grade One and we use Book Creator often in class as a tool to display learning and document ongoing learning. These are some ways we have used it this year: In Writing Workshop the kids can choose to take a paper published book and publish again as an ebook with Book Creator. In science we have recently used Book Creator as a way to keep a digital field journal with pictures, video and drawing. This year I have also began to use Book Creator in conjunction with the digital portfolio app Seesaw.
