Low barrier to entry for anyone who wants to make a real app.
Community Review for BloxMob
My Take
Bloxmob is an excellent choice for educators who would like to offer students a chance to design, build, and share apps (that actually work) without the barrier of coding or having to create a developer's account with Apple or Android. Combined with human-centered, paper wireframing, and Agile, this platform is a fantastic choice for teachers interested in an authentic approach to inquiry-based learning.
How I Use It
I used Bloxmob in collaboration with a 7th grade science teacher who was interested in having student integrate technology with her classes unit on biology. During this unit, her students learned about design thinking and used Agile (Scrum) to help manage the overall app development process. Within a matter of hours, the students had created functional, media rich apps that demonstrated knowledge across a variety of content domains - and they enjoyed it! However, this was not without challenges. We were using Bloxmob at an early stage of development so the classes experienced the occasional bug and were initially frustrated that the video tutorials were out of date. Luckily, the kids received immediate, on demand support from the Bloxmob team whenever there was an issue. Since then, the functionality continues to improve and become even more user streamlined and intuitive.
