My Take
The only tricky part was to create accounts for each student. I had to go on the Animoto website and create a teacher account first before using the app on iPads. The education account allows teachers to create "extra" accounts for students via Gmail by adding a "+1, +2, etc." after each original Gmail account. How I Use It
I've used Animoto to help reinforce skills such as descriptive writing and Language Arts topics. Students created a video on "adjectives" for example, and made a Thinking Map that showed a list of adjectives about a certain noun. They then found images online and took photos to represent those adjectives, including captions for each photo. Students were highly engaged as they selected the proper theme and music to include in their video. Having an education account allows students to have access to more themes and they can make a video that is longer than the default of 30 seconds. The video creation is very intuitive, and students can create a finished product easily, usually in about 30-45 minutes, depending on the availability of images on the iPad or via image searching online. Overall, a great way to support learning objectives through visuals and mixed media.
