My Take
I think Adobe Spark is one of the best free teaching tools available. It is the most user friendly video editor that I have ever used. Of course there are certain limitations, like you can only add 30 seconds of video at a time. The only drawback is that users must be 13 years old to use it. Student presentations have changed dramatically since the days of the tri-fold display. Editing high quality professional video is just another tool that students can use.
How I Use It
Since YouTube discontinued its free online video editor in the fall of 2017, I have been looking for a free video editor that is web-based. Our school like many others is 1-to-1 with Chromebooks. That means Movie Maker, Adobe Premier, and iMovie aren't feasible options. Students can use Adobe Spark to make public service announcements or to explain a concept or really any other type of video that you can imagine. After learning about a topic instead of having students present, have them make a video using adobe spark. There are excellent sites where students can download stock footage(Pexels) and music(Jamendo). This stock footage can be used to make a movie trailer for the battle of Gettysburg, or about the immune system or really anything. This is also a good time to go over crediting sources. Or have students use screencastify to film math tutorials and spice them up in Adobe Spark. The uses are endless, students will be engaged!
