Unlimited Lesson Possibilities
I think I will best use this as a resource for students for their own writing or projects, or as a way to enrich a topic. I will probably not use it for students to add their own content, though there are relevant possibilities for them to do so in the projects section, such as Amazing Grandparents. I also liked the tour section that, in many cases has a historic photo layered over a modern day interactive street view (think Google Earth). Students can analyze what has changed and what has stayed the same. I am impressed that much of the content is provided by the dozens of museums, libraries, and archives that contribute to the site. The Collections section combines images around a particular theme, but I do wish you were to search by keyword. The site provides activity sheets and lesson ideas, and Activity Sheet 3 is a great starting point for students to become familiar with everything it has to offer, and how to go about exploring it.

An innovative means to explore history using mapping, imagery and text.
Very nice interface in the way that mapping can be used as well as the accompanying images and could be a great jumping off point for further research and to inspire curiosity. This tool can be differentiated in that a student can either focus on one place or they can create an entire tour of an area and go deeper into the environment, change, demographics, etc.

This produce works great for making history come to life.
I think this product worked great with my small group stations throughout the day. There are lots of pictures and facts that students can access to make Social Studies more engaging.

Such a powerful teaching tool! My favorite lesson of the year.
This website helped me in one of my favorite lessons. I learned about this in a graduate-level course, and at that time there weren't too many "pins". The website has had a lot of growth, but I think this will be an incredibly powerful tool as more and more begin to use it.
This lesson really opened students eyes to see that we have a lot in common, but yet are very diverse at the same time.
