Students will be able to assess the importance of WWI in relation to WII, understand the response to genocide, and the impact WWII has on today's agendas.

1 Step One: Treaty of Versailles and Entry into World War II.

Activity: Exploring

I will distribute iPads (or tablets) to the students and they will start to explore the Treaty of Versailles in the following link (http://www.history.com/topics/world-war-i/treaty-of-versailles.)

Student Instructions

They will be seperated into groups and assorted by the country they are representing. They will start by looking into this website (http://www.history.com/topics/world-war-i/treaty-of-versailles) and then start searching for certain stances or ideas presented at the Paris Peace Conference. They will then debate the fate of Germany (one of the groups). With the remaining time they will play the game that is posted on my Weebly Page in the smores website.

2 Nazi Propaganda

Activity: Assessing

The students will be watching me present a power point.

Student Instructions

After the presentation they will view a mashup of Hitler's speeches (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFNUdCtMXWE). Then they will complete their own source analysis.

3 The Ghettos

Activity: Exploring

I will hand out tablets and give them further instructions.

Student Instructions

The Students will navigate to this website (http://www.historyonthenet.com/holocaust/warsawghettoquickquiz.htm). They will read the content and then take the quiz on a seperate piece of paper. We will go over the answers. They will then watch a seven minute video on the Ghettos (optional): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVh0qCc_AR0). On the UBD unit page they will take a short answer assessment by using poll everywhere. (Under Lesson plan 3).

4 Concentration and Death Camps

Activity: Exploring

Tablets will be distributed and further directions will be given.

Student Instructions

The Students will go to the following website: (http://www.jewishgen.org/ForgottenCamps/Camps/DayEng.html) and read the real life account of a day in a prisoners shoes. If we still have time we will watch this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHcJtU9dr6I).

5 Paper Clips

Activity: Exploring

Pop in the DVD "Paper Clips".

Student Instructions

After they watch the film they will navigate through this website: (http://oneclipatatime.org/paper-clips-project/). We will then discuss the response to Genocide and its effect on our current generation.
