1 Hook/Attention Getter

Introduce U.S. landmarks by showing the 2 minute clip on landmarks in this discovery education video entitled "This is Our: Country"

2 Direct Instruction

Go through this free powerpoint from Teachers Pay Teachers with students discussing different landmarks and asking students if they have visited any of them.

3 Independent Practice

Create a webquest for students to complete about U.S. landmarks they learned about in the video clip and the powerpoint. I created a webquest in Google Forms. Each question included a link to the website where the answer was located to make sure students were on appropriate websites. You can set up Google Forms to grade their responses when they are finished.

Student Instructions

Students can work with a partner or independently to answer the questions in the webquest. They need to click on the link found in each question, search for the answer on the webpage they were directed to, and record their answer in the webquest on Google Forms.

4 Wrap-Up

Activity: Debating

Have a class discussion with students and ask which landmark they would most like to visit and why.
