Students will be able to evaluate a website to determine if it has a privacy policy and if it safely stores student data.

1 Hook

The teacher will pull up her GMail inbox to show students her Spam folder. She will point out all of the junk mail in her folder. 

2 Direct Instruction

Teacher asks students to go to url above for the Pearson Realize website. 

Teacher points out 3 things:

1. the "s" in https, meaning Secure

2. the lock icon

3. Privacy Policy

3 Guided Practice

Teacher presents another url.

The teacher guides them through the website to look for the 3 safety features in the previous step.

4 Independent Practice

Now evaluate some wesbites on your own. Share url with assignment. 

Student Instructions

Go to the url and print off the CSM student worksheet.

Activity: Conversing

As a group, share your findings from the written activity. 

Share with neighbor: 3 safety features to look for when evaluating a website for safe use.
