The Space Movie
1 The hook
Present a clip from the Lego Movie.
Allow students to discuss what they saw and to share there thoughts about the movie if they have seen it.
Point out to the students the technology behind the making of the movie.
Finally, have the students understand that the movie was entertaining not just because of the special effects but also the story and good writing.
Students will watch the trailer from the Lego Movie.
Students will share there favorite parts of the movie and what they liked best about it.
2 Direct Instruction
Have students start a new document in google drive.
Explain to students that they are going to pick there favorite part of the space race and tell that part in their own movie.
Students will create their own screenplays.
Students will create a screenplay of theri favorite part of the space race. The students have already learned about the space race and the importance of this time period in American history.
3 Create TIme
Have students use the App foldify to create characters that they will use to act out their screenplay.
Students will use the app Foldify to create and print their characters that they will use to act out their screenplay.
4 Movie TIme
Students will use the Lego Movie Maker app to take still pictures of their foldify characters. Once the pictures have been taken and the students have their pictures they can improt them into iMovie. The students will be able to add their soundtracks and read their screenplays in iMovie and too play while the pictures are imported.
Students will use the Lego Movie Maker App to take pictures of their foldify app characters. Once the pictures are taken you can import them into the iMovie App. Students will read their screenplays into iMovie and match their pictures with their screeplays. Students can then add titles and transitions to make their Space Movies as creative as they want.
