1 Activator

Essential Questions:

How could this knowledge apply to the real world?

Where have I seen examples of the polygons in real life?
How do I know if I have enough information to classify a polygon?
How should I decide when to add segments to assist me in my proofs?
What are the different types of polygons and how do their properties compare? 

Student Instructions

Anticipatory Set: (hook)

Turn and Talk! Discuss your homework graphic organizer with your team. Show your graphic organizer and explain each part. (Frayers Model of graphic organizer given the day previously)

(while students are doing their activator, the picture is on the smart board)

2 Mini Lesson

 

How could this knowledge apply to the real world?
Where have I seen examples of the polygons in real life?

Student Instructions

During the mini students are required to do  the ABSD Whispers Activity .

ABCD whispers is a way to conduct structured student-student conversations in your classroom. Students work in groups of four and each student is given a different concept or term which they then illustrate on a sheet of colored paper. The four students in a group should all have different colors of paper (see examples) The term they are given should be written on this sheet of paper, no other words should be used but symbols are allowed. 

 Eventually, every student will get its own graphic organizer, once he/she retells the description of every other graphic organizer.

3 Learning Activity

During the Lesson Activity, teacher asks students to remind the class how we should calculate the measure of one interior angle of regular and irregular polygon. After the short review, students pick up their laptops. 

Student Instructions

Students work collaboratively to apply and work with knowledge, concepts, and theories.

Students asked to go to www.geogebra.org and create their polygons and use the tools included in geogebra to calculate the measure of the angles and the measure of sides, based on the information they gathered identify whether the polygon is regular  or irregular, and concave or convex?

 

4 Wrap Up

Teacher is introducing a Padlet.com as a resource to use for submission and sharing the responses for classroom questions.

Student Instructions

 Students complete work independently to demonstrate their mastery.

As a second Technology resource to be used in class is Padlet.com. Students are asked to complete the assignment by logging in to Assignment link

The whole class share out and discussion, what is missing in Responses and what answers are complete, how would we change response to make it 100%.
