1 HOOK/ATTENTION GETTER
The Google Expedition kit needs to be set up in advance. The kit includes Android phones with the Google Expeditions app, VR headsets, a router and Android tablet for the teacher to guide the Expedition. Everything should be charged. The guide Expedition should be started waiting on students to join the Expedition.
Today we will be taking a Virtual Reality field trip to places of importance during the Great Depression. Will will visit a major city as well as the Midwest and rural South.
2 DIRECT INSTRUCTION and GUIDED PRACTICE
Read the script from the Google Expedition guide view. Stop and the end of each panorama title and have students discuss and answer questions related to this title. Then have groups share their answers with the entire class.
Discuss at your table possible answers to the questions relating to each panorama title. Write your answers in the space provided. Be prepared to share your answers with the rest of the class.
3 INDEPENDENT PRACTICE
Say to the students "Imagine, like Dorothea Lange, that you have been employed by the United States government to take photographs that document poverty in the United States. Pretend you took the pictures on page three of your handout. Choose four pictures and complete the graphic organizer.
