Objectives

Students will be able to...

Create a project using Toontastic, Tellagami, or Sock Puppet apps to explain an element from the periodic table with the following information:

1. Chemical symbol, atomic number, atomic mass.

2. Metal, metalloid, non-metal.

3. State at room temperature, boiling and melting point.

4. Common uses and other interesting facts.

1 Hook

This app allows student to research information needed on their periodic element.

2 Direct Instruction

Students are shown a sample of a script created with the information needed for this project. Students are shown how to create a cartoon by themselves.

Also use Sock Puppet app and Tellagami app with the same desired results.

3 Guided Practice

Students create their own cartoon regarding a former topic in science to practice using toontastic while teacher works the classroom and helps with any questions.

 

Students practice using Sock Puppet App and Tellagami app as well.

4 Independent Practice

Students script the information they have researched about their element and create a cartoon using toontastic about it.

Students are given a choice to use either toontastic, tellagami, or sock puppet app to create this end product.

5 Wrap-Up

We can attach a link or the video to the final project to a periodic table so that they can appear to students if they hover over their element with the aurasma app open.
