1 Understanding the Constitution

Start lesson by asking what do you guy know about the Constitution? Discuss answers. Move on to Kahoot, 7 vocabulary questions. Discuss the results. Finally, to give students prior knowledge before starting actual lesson, The Constitution Game.

 

Student Instructions

Students are to be seated and follow Smart Board rules.

2 Direct Instruction

Explain that the Constitution is divided into 5 sections.  The Preamble is the first part, it explains who is writing the Constitution and why.  The Articles are the second part, they explain how our government work.  Part three are the amendments--additions,  that the writers of the Constitution thought were important. These additions name the rights and freedoms Americans have. After the first 10 amendments the Bill of Rights, the Constitution includes other additional amendments that have been added over time.

Follow Smart Board instructions and listen intently and participate.

3 Guided Practice

Activity: Other — Worksheet Scholastic

Worksheets will be distributed, in pairs student will work together to answer questions, as teacher walks around looking and listening to students explaining misconceptions.
