These short 5 minute videos provide students with concrete knowledge of how each body system works.  Each video has extention activities for after they watch the video.  The vidoes should provide student enough information to be able to undstand the importance of each body system and how to take care of it.

3 Guided Practice

Activity: Conversing

After each BrainPop video we discussed the important jobs that body system did.  Then I had my student write why the body system was amazing after each BrainPop video in a simple book I made.

4 Independent Practice

Each student then picked a different body system to do an investigation on to create their persuasive poster. Student read age appropriate books on their topic and wrote down reasons to persuade the reader to take care of their body system.  The were also given access back to BrainPopJr. and the KidsHealth website on how the body works http://kidshealth.org/kid/htbw/

5 Wrap-Up

Activity: Creating

Students use the information they gather during their investigation to create their poster.  Each poster must have a lead, three supporting facts, and a closing to support taking care of their body system.  I used a planning sheet to help the student organize their information.
