1 Hook

Using whole class instruction I will share some of the excellent 'storyboards' that have been created from popular fiction such as Harry Asbury's storyboards of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows.

2 Direct Instruction

After sharing a quick (favorite) read-aloud, model the construction of s storyboard which retells the story using the graphic tools at storyboardthat.com.  Model the use of backgrounds, characters and the addition of dialog.  

3 Guided practice/Independent practice

Free, Free to try, Paid

Studentw will use the computer lab to construct their own storyboard based on their reading in class and their favorite fiction.  Lab teacher will provide support to individuals as required.

4 Wrap-Up

Students will share the slide show versions of their 'storyboards' to the entire class as time permits.  Classmates will guess what fiction or non-fiction source the storyboard is telling.
