1 Hook

Activity: Reading

The teacher will begin by reading a story to the students and not finish it. This will leave the students hanging and pique their interests.

2 Direct Instruction

Activity: Presenting

As a group the students will view the following video on the 5 elements of a story: https://www.flocabulary.com/fivethings/

After the video the teacher will lead a discussion of these elements and discuss what part of the previous story they were missing.

3 Guided Practice

Activity: Exploring

The students will break up into small groups and outline the story elements presented in the story they just read and finish the story. As a whole each group will present their ideas. The teacher will then lead a discussion on the app storykit and how to use it. The teacher will model it by picking an ending (could be the originally ending) and create the story using story kit.

4 Independent Practice

Activity: Creating

Students will begin to create their own stories using the app story kit. If this is too difficult for them have them work in pairs or groups.

5 Wrap up

Activity: Presenting

For wrap up the students will present and read their stories to the rest of the class. As a group you can discuss the story elements and how they relate to each story.
