1 Pass out homework

Activity: Other — Receiving Work

This step can consist of a number of approaches to accomplishing the same goal.  The goal: get homework "sheets" to your students.  Here are a few methods that could be used:

  1. Pass out paper/pencil worksheets (all work can be collected in Showbie, including paper work
  2. Post student work to your LMS site or email student pdf copies of the worksheet
  3.  Post work directly in Showbie

For the remaining steps, I will continue to refer to these as methods 1, 2, and 3.

Student Instructions

Get work from your teachers in whatever format they choose!  If choice is given, use the best method for your learning style!

2 Complete Work

Assign students to complete the work in the appropriate format given the type of worksheet that is provided.

Student Instructions

1.  (paper/pencil) - Complete your work as you would traditionally!

2. (pdf from web) - Open pdf in Notability or another pdf-annotation app.  From here, complete the homework that needs to be submitted!

3. (directly in Showbie) - Within the Showbie app, complete work using the various tools available in Showbie (pen, keyboard, voice notes)

3 Submit Work

Assign your students to turn in their work in the following manners:

1.  (paper/pencil) - Open the appropriate assignment in Showbie, and select to "add" to your assignment turn in location.  Select "Camera" and then take a picture of your work.  If needed, repeat these steps for multiple pages.

2. (pdf from web) - Choose to export your work from whatever app you are using in .pdf format.  If you do not use .pdf format, you (teacher) will not be able to annotate directly on their work.  This is essential!  After selecting to export the work, and choosing to do so as a pdf, then share the work with the Showbie app.  From here, select the correct class, and then the correct assignment folder, and then press submit.

3. (directly in Showbie) - Simply press "Done".  That is it!

Teachers will then be able to check to see who has turned in their work (look for paper clips).  From here, teachers can provide detailed feedback right within the app very quickly and easily.  Voice notes are especially beneficial when explaining complex ideas, and the pen annotation tool is very effective as well.  Once finished with each paper that is being graded, simply press "Done" to save your annotations and move on to the next assignment.
