1 Getting Started


(Disc owned by school; also found on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzVyqiskpMk&safe=active (Prologue, Act 1, 1/2 Act 2) and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKUyq-uCZr0 (Act 2 second 1/2, Act 3 - 5)  Be sure to write the Reduced Shakespeare Company to use these clips in class before using, if you do not own the disc.

Use these two clips / This section (13:00 minutes) as the opening piece to R & J; using this alone, have students in small groups use brief overviews and the clips to create their own movie Trailers  using i Movie for each Act.  These will be used later to compare to the actual play to compare their predictions to the actual occurences in the play.

Using brief Act overviews, have the students in small groups create Trailers using iMovie for each Act. These will be used later to comapre to the actual play to compare their predictions to the actual occurences in the play.

Read and analyze the play

Use small clips of different versions of scenes to compare and contrast emphasis and author's purpose.

Use SAS Curriculum Pathways (QL # 560 for MACBETH, # 541 for R & J) as a web quest within the course of reading the play; use the skills utilized in these web lessons for interpreting and analyzing the rest of the play.

Using mind mapping and story boarding,  plan a modern version of the chosen play in small groups, each group in charge of an Act within the play.

In Small Groups, design and shoot (using iMovie) a modern re-write of a given act, co-ordinating with other groups to make sure the story line remains intact between groups.
