1 Hook

Activity: Conversing

Using a Think/Pair/Share Protocol, have students brain storm events that led to the signing of the Declaration of Independence. 

2 Guided Practice


  • Preview the assignment with students, reviewing class protocol for analyzing documents. 
  • Have students complete the lesson, analyzing the primary source documents to put the events in order. 
  • When finished, students can mark complete to have their answers sent to you. 
  • Students can then submit their answers and a summarizing paragraph to you via email as a closing.
