Objectives

Students will be able to...

Take a "selfie" photo on their iPad, save the photo in Google Drive, open and create a file in Photoshop, access and open selfie in PS, manipulate photo according to concepts/themes developed beforehand, save final version as a jpeg in Google Drive and submit via Schoology for assessment.

Teacher introduces unit by discussing the prevalence and proliferation of selfies in our society/culture. Transition into how self portraits are a viable and noteworthy form of art. Have students take a selfie shot using iPad in front of green screen or bland background. Students will save as a photo and up laid onto Google Drive, Then have students open Adobe Photoshop and create a new document/file 8.5' x 11". Have them import/open selfie photo into new file. Have students manipulate the image per discussions/demos prior to initiating project. Review saving and converting PS files to universal formats- JPEGS, TIFFS, PDFs etc. Have students save work in their Google Drives and then submit via Schoology.

Student Instructions

Students learn about and discuss prevalence and proliferation of selfies in our society/culture. Stundent should understand how self portraits are a viable and noteworthy form of art.
