1 Exploring repeated addition

Activity: Exploring

Tell students that today they will practice addition.

Ask each students to use the iPad to take a picture in the playground of one piece of equipment.

Have students  return to the classroom and will use the i-pad to duplicate their photo.

Tell students  to  arrange their duplicated pictures into equal groups.  

Help students use  the writing tool to create an equation using their pictures.   (picture) + (picture)+ (picture)=  9

Student Instructions

Students use their iPads to take a picture of one piece of playground equipment  (such as one swing),  one ball,    one orange cone). 

Students  return to the classroom and will use the i-pad to duplicate their photo.

Students will  arrange their duplicated pictures into equal groups.

2 Independent practice

Day  two

Pair students up with a partner.  Have partner 1 use the i pad to interview and film  their partner (2)  as she/he explains  the project.   (Reverse  roles  so that partner 2 interviews partner 1 )

Student Instructions

 

Your job is to create a movie of your partner as your partner explains their activity  and the math it represents.
