1 Hook/Attention Getter
Students will participate in a 3-5 question Kahoot survey about pink eye, including some urban myths
This activity will also be a quick means for the teach to assess how much background knowledge students have on the topic.
2 Direct Instruction
As a class, students will read the article about pink eye.
Depending upon the makeup of the class/group the teacher might decide to have students read independently or read as a whole group,
3 Guided Practice
Hold a group discussion that focuses on the ensuring that the teacher dispells common myths about how and why people catch pink eye as well as how people actually catch it, what the symptoms are and how it is treated.
Students will think, pair, share their thoughts, opinions, questions about pink eye so that they will be able to have adequate knowledge about pink eye.
4 Independent Practice
Using Padlet, Students will post, in their own words/explain how someone can catch pink eye, they will explain the symptoms of pink eye and how to properly treat pink eye.
5 Wrap Up
Students will answer the same 3-5 questions at the beginning of class so that both the teacher and the class can see how much growth they have made since the beginning of class.
