1 HOOK/ATTENTION GETTER-Like poetry but can't find the right words?

Teacher will ask students a series of questions regarding their experiences with writing poetry:

 

Likes/dislikes

 

easy/not so easy

 

enjoyable/difficult

 

 

2 Guided practice

Teacher will model PicLit on the SmartBoard

 

Students will have opportunity to share input on creating a library poem.

 

Teacher will call on selected students to come up to the SmartBoard and drag and drop words to create poem.

3 Independent Practice

 

return to their desks and use their Chromebooks to open the website http://www.piclits.com/compose_dragdrop.aspx

 

Next students will drag and drop words to create a free form poem of their own.

4 Wrap Up

Students can then either blog or share their work for publishing via groups
