Students will be able to...

Create a classroom climate and culture that provides physical and psychological safety for all, establishes respect and trust, and brings joy to themselves and their students.

Know the interests, abilities, and backgrounds of the students they teach and design work that students care about and value.

Collaborate with colleagues to design student work, derived from the SOL and the curriculum, that students are expected to master, and translate learning targets into student friendly language.

Design learning experiences that engage individual students and teams with the 5 Cs - critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration to master and apply SOL knowledge and skills, to make significant contributions to the world.

Know and use electronic and digital learning technologies and guide students in using these technologies to build and share knowledge.

Work with student teams to identify content-related, authentic, challenging problems and tasks that require students to apply their knowledge and skills to address the identified problems and/or tasks.

Work with individual students and teams to connect with tools, information, and resources that lead to a deeper understanding of the issues related to their chosen problem or task, resulting in the creation of a public product, performance, service, or exhibition that offers a solution to the problem or task, and provides evidence of student content mastery and competence in using the 5 Cs.

Work with students to formatively and continuously assess their progress and use the data to provide students with appropriate, timely, and effective feedback, and to adjust instruction to provide the time and support students need to achieve their learning goals.

Work with individual students and teams to enhance the quality of their work and ensure that the way(s) in which they share their work are appropriate to the purpose and audience.
