1 Hook

Activity: Drawing

Teacher will use whiteboard as a resource to show/model a number between 1-10.  After the number has been identified, the teacher will guide students in the process to draw images that represent that specific number. Ex: 5=draw five stars.

Student Instructions

Students will be asked to identify the number written/chosen on the board and assist with the drawing that represents that number. Throughout the teacher demonstration students will be expected to think about a number they would like to identify/draw.

2 Direct Instruction

Teacher will use Air Play to demonstrate the above "hook" activity this time using the Seesaw app and the drawing option within the app.  Once representation is complete, the teacher will continue through the process of "submitting" student work via Seesaw.

Student Instructions

Students will be expected to follow as teacher demonstrates the steps to select, draw/represent that number in the drawing section of seesaw. Once "project" is complete, students will continue through the process of submitting their work via Seesaw for teacher approval and parent/student viewing.

*Suggestion: Always have Seesaw QR code displayed in classroom so student that may need logged in can easily and independently access and complete this process that isn't part of the lesson and is assumed to be done already.

3 Independent Practice

Students will be expected to rotate through "ipad Zone" to complete the number identification activity.  Peer support is also encouraged for assisting students demonstrating difficulty with the learning objective or the technology part of the activity.

4 Wrap UP

Students will have time at completion of activity to use Seesaw to view other students' number representation submissions.  They will be allowed to "like" or comment on work.

*peer commenting lesson/activity previously taught in a digital citizenship lesson.
